The Proactive Risk PM Weekly

Proactive Over Reactive. Always.

Reader,

Alright, now in this series on the Domains within the PMI-RMP® Exam Content Outline, we have reviewed the importance of building your strategy for risk management, identifying and analyzing risks, and building effective response plans for that list of risks.

Now, we are going to go over one of the most exciting parts of risk management, Monitor & Close Risks. But if you skip this step, you will not just do terrible on the exam, but you will have terrible time with your projects in real life!

PMI-RMP® Exam Content Outline:

Domain V: Monitor & Control Risks

If you don't monitor your progress, you won't know where you are going!
In this video, I go over:

  • Gather and Analyze Performance Data
  • Monitor Residual & Secondary Risks
  • Provide Information Required to Update Relevant Project Documents
  • Monitor Project Risk Levels

Our final domain and it's an important one. This is all about keeping track of your data around risk management.

This is also where we start keeping track of what happens after we implement our risk responses. Because, not every response will make everything go away, leaving residual and secondary risks in our father .

Your Takeaway:
Risk management does not stop at identifying the risks, assigning owners and response plans. You have to keep an eye on your risks and your risk register. Adding to it as new risks come up and taking risks off when they are no longer applicable.

Risk management is never a one time event! It's a continuous process that you have to keep up with from initiation through closure of your projects!
