Hi ,
I've been feeding my project charter, stakeholder register, and a stack of meeting notes into AI lately... and in under a minute, it hands me back 40, 50, sometimes 60 potential risks.
Ten years ago that took a facilitated workshop, a whiteboard, and a few hours of my life.
Now it's instant. And honestly? It's the part of AI I use the most.
But here's what kills me. And it's the thing I keep coming back to as I dig into this for an upcoming video.
Half of those risks aren't even real.
Now, let's get Proactive Over Reactive!
"The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good people to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it."
— Theodore Roosevelt
The above quote is about delegation. But it applies here too, because handing AI your risk identification is a form of delegation. And delegation without oversight is how good tools create bad decisions.
Here's the trap.
Fifty AI-generated risks isn't fifty insights.
It's fifty items competing for your team's attention.
And, without a filter, your risk register stops being a decision-making tool and turns into noise.
And underneath that noise is something PMI's own AI standard says plainly: Garbage in, Garbage out. AI is only as good as the lessons learned data you feed it.
And that's what I dive into in this week's video:
